The team were called by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist extricating a male casualty who had fallen whilst out climbing on Almscliffe Crags. The UWFRA swift water team, who were out on a scheduled practice in Addingham Weir when the call came through, were on scene shortly before a team that had been deployed from the Grassington base. On arrival at Almscliffe the casualty had been diagnosed as having a suspected lower leg fracture - his injury had been splinted and pain relief adminstered by the YAS. The team assembled a stretcher and carried the casualty to the waiting road ambulance.
