Thanks

Due to the nature of the work we do, the team has very close ties with the local community.  Below is an expression of thanks on behalf of the team to those who regularly assist and support us.

The members of the team do what they do because they have the skills, abilities, and desire to help others and should the day come when they need assistance themselves they would like to think someone would be there to help them.  They receive no payment for their services and they don’t expect any thanks, but when thanks is received it is always very welcome.  Also below you will find some  messages of thanks received by the team from those we’ve assisted over the years.Contact the Team

The Team

UWFRA is a voluntary organisation.  This means we depend on donations in order to be able to operate and maintain our equipment.  As well as money the team also relies heavily on the good will and support of many other people and organisations, without whose cooperation and support we would have a much harder time doing our job

Below are some of the people we rely on regularly for support;

•Our families (including our partners and pets!) who tolerate our lengthy absences from home, often at inconvenient times and look after us when we return tired and hungry.
•Our employers and customers who understand when rescues call us away during working hours.
•The people who work 'behind the scenes', away from the active callout list, to keep the team running.
•The Police, Ambulance, and Fire services for their practical assistance and support.
•The RAF and their helicopter crews who when called fly in to assist us.
•Our neighbour, the Cave Rescue Organisation, for the rapport and strong working relationship during training and rescues.
•The shops, pubs, hotels and businesses that have our collecting tins and raise money in other ways.
•To all those who donate money, and services, whatever the amount.
•The farmers and landowners who allow access across their land, saving us valuable time and long walks.

And to anyone else who has helped us - thank you!

" I was the unfortunate leader of this walk when you rescued Fred Fisk from Waterfall Gill.  May I just say what a wonderful team you have.  So professional yet with senses of humour, which is certainly needed at a time like this.l have to say I was so impressed the way you all just galump' 'down the hillside with all your equipment in readiness to face whatever.  Also I have got to admit I was so relieved when you took control of the situation."

I have to mention the absolute professionalism with which everyone, whether a professional, volunteer or otherwise, played their role (even and perhaps especially my Helicopter Hero). Three weeks in hospital enabled me to reflect on just how fortunate I am, ‘we are’, to have a world class rescue service here in Yorkshire.

“"A Big Thank You"

This is a huge thank you from myself  and my family to all UWFRA members who came to Stump Cross to assist my rescue and in particular to those who crawled into the rift to keep me company.

The positive attitudes and words of encouragement from everyone helped to make a personally embarrassing situation appear as just another days UWFRA work.

A Family donation is being made by Just Giving”

“I've a fractured fibula and malleoli and but 7 weeks in plaster should sort me out. Its so reassuring for those who enjoy the Dales to know that you are there, offering such wonderful assistance. I'm also grateful to hear that you took my very cold companion to Cray for some welcome refreshment.”
