UWFRA “Wish List”
Keeping the team properly equipped is an ongoing and expensive project not only as gear wears out or breaks but as it also reaches its expiry date. On top of this routine replacement of equipment, the team also has some specific additional equipment we would like to purchase – some big some small.
If you wish to make a donation, you may like to make it towards one of the items listed here:
Satmap GPS Mapping Devices - Provide better mapping for the teams on the hill as well as recording the routes of each search team using the devices.
Radio Cases - Mike Radnall MR case. To help protect handheld radios. These cases are specially designed for the types of radios the team uses. The bright colour and reflective piping also makes the radios more visible. They cost around £40 each.
Rope Protector – these lightweight but hard wearing flexible plastic guards go over the edge of a rock pitch to reduce abrasion on the ropes. This not only reduces wear and tear in the long term but increases safety whilst the rope is in use and under tension.
Lights - Powerful torch for use as a searchlight. These are compact and lightweight enough to be practical for carrying long distance over rough ground. This type of torch has been found to be very robust and is now in use by a number of other MRT's. List price is about £300 each.
On top of these wish list items we still have our other expenses such as fuel, insurance, heating and lighting and vehicle maintenance etc.
