UWFRA To Attend Walking Festival

We will be manning our UWFRA exhibition stand at the launch of the South Pennines Walk and Ride Festival to be held at the Riddings Hall Ilkley on Sat 11 Sept. We will also be using the event to further promote our Safety Card Campaign

Coast to Coast Charity Bike Ride 2010

Raising funds for the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association and Air Cadets

 Based on a true scenario, in June 2010 0140hrs Sergeant Widdowson – “Fell Rescue – I’m just ringing to give you a heads up on a situation that’s developing on the moors over Skipton, we may be putting in a formal turn out request through our control room”

Game Show 2010

The 2010 Game Show took place on the last Sunday in June. It was a hot sunny day but unfortunately the event happened to clash with England playing in the World Cup and this meant the attendance was well down on previous years. While the accounts have not yet been finalised, it seems likely there will be very little profit (if any at all) to be distributed to the two local Rescue Teams (ourselves and the Cave Rescue Organisation).

I am running the Mont Blanc marathon in the French Alps this year in June  (http://www.montblancmarathon.net/index.php?rub=99&langue=an) which is not only extremely hilly but involves a total of 2511 metres of climbing and is set at an altitude of 1000-2200m which makes it even tougher!

How To Call Mountain Rescue In Yorkshire....

Many people visiting the Yorkshire Dales don’t know how to get help if there is an accident or if someone is missing or overdue.

Training Weekend is Huge Success

On the 8th and 9th May UWFRA, Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO), North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire Brigade held a large training exercise near UWFRA's  HQ in Grassington.
